During my recent trip to New York, I finally had the opportunity to check dining at the Jekyll & Hyde Club off my NYC bucket list. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone drawn to the haunted and mysterious. Allow the photos below to take you on a journey of New York City’s most renowned haunted house-turned chic and kitschy club and bar.
The menu is quite extensive and those with any dietary restriction shouldn’t have much trouble making a food selection here. As a vegetarian, I was rather impressed by the amount of veggie options available.
As the club’s main call to fame, the decor and ambiance of Jekyll & Hyde is fascinating to say the least. Each element has been carefully situated to ensnare the senses and transport visitors into the world of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
As one could imagine, the waitstaff is out of this world. Each takes on a unique character, apt to turn your experience into one that is nothing short of unforgettable. Don’t be afraid to interact with the entertaining talent, though keep in mind that you may see a $3 charge pop up on your bill (WORTH IT).
Memorabilia throughout the restaurant and bar will come to life as its corroborating spooky playlist fills the space, so get the video cameras ready!
Personally, my favorite part of the experience was by far the hallway encasing the restrooms and kitchen. Lined floor to ceiling with artificial books, it is up to you to find your way to the restroom by pressing along the wall until you find the piece willing to swing in, taking you inside the quirky bathrooms.
Keep in mind that though the restaurant at first glance seems rather small and tight, this is New York City, and you may just be seated next to the most fascinating person you have ever met. If you plan to dine with a larger group, calling ahead is suggested, which could possibly get you seated on the mysterious upper floor with additional seating that is typically closed off.
New York City’s Jekyll & Hyde Club is a highly interactive and hauntingly memorable dining experience. Compared to similarly-themed haunted restaurants around the city, I would absolutely recommend this one first and consider it a must-see for any thrill-seekers or book junkies like myself who are chasing that Jekyll & Hyde novel experience.
Don’t leave without stepping inside the photobooth and taking home your very own photo strip to memorialize your time at the Jekyll & Hyde Club!
